Pricing

The aim of NIC is to provide free registration of ONE domain for citizens (owning local citizenship) who are resident of .RW or .CG. But this is subject to very limitative conditions, with physical presence of servers in .RW or .CG, and for entities without foreign involvement.

The registration of one (1) domain is free of charge for the citizens who are resident in our country, provided the domain name is effectively run in the country, on local servers. It is our sole discretion to accept the free registration in our country code, and we will ensure that no abuse of registration takes place. If we suspect that a domain request is made by a company or individual that benefits already of a free domain, we will reject the application at our sole discretion. We can require a copy of a valid passport or residence permit from time to time. A company or an NGO duly registered in our country and operated from there could also qualify. Legal institutions, governmments, ministeries, churches and other authorities of our country have a right for free domains at the highest priority.

In order to avoid foreign entities to register free domains with us, we generally require that the applicant faxes us the proof of his citizenship/right of residence. A subsidiary of a foreign company, even if registered in our country, is regarded as a foreign entity. The principle of free domains is for serving the disadvantaged communities of our country, with the use of local DNS servers. Should one of these conditions not being fulfilled (e.g. the DNS servers are transferred abroad), NIC is entitled to delete the domain or switch it to a non-resident status.

However, the foreign entities should also be able to register domains in .RW and .CG. The policy of NIC is to charge these entities with sizeable fees. Only three DNS changes per year are accepted. Extra fees apply for additional changes. Please contact us should you exceed this maximum.   The foreign entities are not obliged to keep a DNS or an administrative contact in the country. Except those qualified by NIC as restricted or undesirable at NIC's sole discretion, any name may be assigned to these entities.

REGISTRATION OF ONE DOMAIN IN .RW OR .CG TOP-LEVEL DOMAIN :

For residing citizens : ONE FREE DOMAIN per CITIZEN or LOCAL COMPANY or LOCAL ORGANIZATION 

For residing citizens who don't qualify for a free domain : A special fee adapted to the local cost of life may be applied. Please contact us. 

For foreign entities :

  • First Year 225 Euros
  • Next Year 225 Euros
  • When you receive our invoice, you can pay up to 5 years in advance. 2 Years=420 Euros, 3 Years=615 Euros, 4 Years=810 Euros, 5 Years=1000 Euros.

We reserve the right to compensate any amount you owe with a pro-rata shortening of expiry date of any of your domains.
